At the concept stage we will work with your engineers to ensure that the basis of the design concept is realistic. Then we create the detailed design, ensuring that it meets the requirement and at the same time uses the cheapest components that will meet the needs of the design.

 We design optics using the Zemax-EE optical design and OptiCAD non-sequential optical analysis packages. These are state-of-the-art tools that create reliable designs economically and are compatible with your own design systems.

At the detailed design stage matters can become really complex, and it is the power of modern design programs that permit rapid and economical designs together with no-compromise on the accuracy of the analysis that confirms their data.

We like to create formal reports for inclusion in your design records to ensure that you have and retain all the information needed for what we hope will be a long lifetime for your product.

On the other hand, if all that you want is back-of-an-envelope calculation then, we can also do that, provided everyone understands the limitations of the scope of the study.

Design data can be transferred to your engineers as *.zmx or *.dxf files or as a set of drawings suitable for immediate use to purchase lens elements or complete assembled systems.

At the stage where the optical design is complete, you the customer have many options. It is not Mindsmeet's usual practise to supply the production lenses. We can do that if you wish, but we are sure that it is in fact better for us to ensure that we work with your design staff to embed the optical design details into your product. When we have achieved that, we can help you purchase lenses direct from a cheap supplier that we are sure can meet your quality needs. If you need a more complex system as a sub-system purchase then we can help you choose a sub-system supplier, help you manage the sub-contract and even ensure that your quality staff have the equipment and training to protect you throughout the product's lifetime.  Of course, if you really do want us to supply the production quantities, then we can do that, but over the years we have frequently said to clients...

"Don't pay us to do that...

           It will be much cheaper  if we show you  how to do it yourself".

In essence, we have built a large optical design consultancy by sub-contracting the simple stuff back to the client, so that they understand everything about their lens system, except that part of the detailed optical design process that really did need thirty years experience.
